hcwcf is proudly supporting ovarian cancer australia
The HCWCF is proudly supporting Ovarian Cancer Australia! Each year around 1600 women are diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in Australia - that’s around one person per meter of altitude for the height of Mt Buffalo.
A cancer that’s specific to women, often diagnosed late and desperately needing more awareness and support (just like women’s cycling!) - we felt it was the perfect fit for the HCWCF.
What can you do to support Ovarian Cancer Australia?
Make your ride count! Fundraise to support Ovarian Cancer through our Paint the Town Teal Everyday Hero Campaign! Create your own team and work towards raising funds for OCA!

Ovarian Cancer Australia is the leading organisation taking action for Australians affected by ovarian cancer. We are committed to saving lives and supporting women through: providing specialised support services for women living with ovarian cancer, facilitating high-impact research to improve outcomes for women, and raising awareness on a national scale to ensure every Australian knows ovarian cancer. Together, we can make a difference.
As there is no early detection test for ovarian cancer, the best way of detecting the disease is to know the signs and symptoms:
Abdominal or pelvic pain
Persistent bloating
The need to urinate urgently
Feeling full after eating a small amount
Additional symptoms:
Pain during sex or bleeding after sex
Unexplained weight gain or loss
Excessive fatigue
Indigestion or nausea
